Knit repair: Elbow Patches
Material:
– 2.5 mm knitting needles
– socks yarn
– tapestry needle
Dimensions: 3.5″ x 5.5″ (10 cm x 14 cm)
Gauge: 14 sts & 22 rws > 2″ x 2″ (5 x 5 cm)
Pattern:
CO 3 (we can use provisionnal cast-on but a traditionnal cast-on could be fine too).
Knit 10 stockinette sticth. Turn.
R1 (RS): K3, pick up and knit 10 on the edge, pick up and knit 3 on the CO row (or pick up the 3 remain sticthes if you used provisional CO). There is 16 s.
R2 (WS): Purl all sts.
R3: K3, M1L, K to 3 sts before end, M1R, K3.
R4: Purl all sts.
Repeat R3 & R4 until 24 sts (= repeat 4 times).
R11: Knit all sts.
R12: Purl all sts.
R13: K3, M1L, K to 3 sts before end, M1R, K3.
R14: Purl all sts.
Repeat R11 to R14 until 32 sts (= repeat 4 times).
R27: Knit all sts.
R28: Purl all sts.
Repeat R27 & R28 3 times more (= 8 rows)
R35: K2, ssk, K to 4 sts before end, k2tog, K2.
R36: Purl all sts.
R37: Knit all sts.
R38: Purl all sts.
Repeat R35 to R38 until 24 sts (= repeat 4 times).
R51: K2, ssk, K to 4 sts before end, k2tog, K2.
R52: Purl all sts.
Repeat R51 & R52 until 16 sts (= repeat 4 times).
Bind Off:
R1: K3, turn.
R2: P3.
R3: K2, ssk, turn.
Repeat R2 & R3 until 6 sts remain
Sew last 6 sts together with grafting method.
